DESIGNER’s STORY

Giampiero Peia

Giampiero Peia was born in 1961 in Lodi, Italy, and obtained a degree in Architecture at the architectural faculty of Milan. Between 1987 and 1994 he was a close collaborator and partner of the Ignazio Gardella study. In 1995 he created the Peia associati studio in Milan, designing innovative solutions, from architecture to industrial design. In 1998, 1999 and 2000 he was nominated by the magazine Casabella as one of the 40 italian “under 50” architects.

He won numerous architecture competitions and realised the headquarters of some important companies at industrial level, the concept store tad in Rome and cooperated with public corporations with works of extension and restoration. Regarding preparations he realised several stands, shows – like the andy warhol show at the triennale of Milan in 2004 – events and exhibitions. Between 2004 and 2006 architect Peia was partner of Pietro Lissoni.

Among the current realisations we can name master plans, residential towers and commercial buildings in Shanghai and Kuala Lumpur; Residential buildings in Milan, tourist complexes on the lake Maggiore and the new buddhist italian centre I.B.I.S.G. in 2005 another concept store tad in Milan was opened. In Doha, Qatar, the alfardan towers and the “Oyster Pavillion”, the first building on an artificial island for 40,000 inhabitants, finished in 2006. Further projects including private villas, luxury apartments, design hotels and residential complexes in Ghana and benin are in progress and some of them were already finished. In November 2007 the study participated to the international architectural competition for the design of the “Tower at suk al Thalath al Gadeem” in Tripoli, Libya. in India, on the Adaman islands, an eco resort and in goa a residential complex are under construction.
