POSE – A Study in Expressive Minimalism
POSE is the latest evolution in Tom Dixon’s long-standing fascination with cones-one of the fundamental geometrical solids that form the basis of architecture and design. Rooted in reductionism and expressive minimalism, POSE explores the conical form in its purest state, balancing a pedestal and shade with a single connecting cone. The result is a lamp with anthropomorphic charm, reminiscent of a playful animated character.
The collection introduces POSE Surface Lights and POSE Pendants to expand on the existing range of POSE Portable and Task Lights, offering a versatile lighting solution for modern interiors. POSE Surface, in particular, meets the growing demand for adaptable lighting in contemporary spaces with lower ceilings, functioning as both a ceiling spotlight and a bedside wall lamp.
Available in three colours-Silver, Kelp, and Putty-the POSE collection features an integrated Fresnel lens and a magnetic ball joint, delivering focused, adjustable illumination. This balance of function and sculpture makes POSE an elegant addition to both residential and contract spaces.
WHIRL – A Dynamic Play of Light and Reflection
WHIRL is the latest experiment in mirrored reflections, inspired by the optical illusions of the Op-Art movement. Manufactured using injection blow-moulding and vacuum metallisation, WHIRL transforms a simple spherical form into a sculptural object with dynamic spirals. The intricate surface refracts and distorts light, creating a mesmerising luminous effect that shifts as the lamp is viewed from different angles.
Drawing inspiration from naturally occurring spirals in whirlpools, plant structures, and seashells, WHIRL embodies the continued exploration of geometry in nature. The interplay of two-way mirror effects and inner metallisation produces a striking contrast between reflection and transparency, offering a distinctive alternative to the organic fluidity of MELT and the pure symmetry of GLOBE.
SOFT – A New Approach to Tactility and Glow
SOFT marks a departure from the typical metallic and highly reflective finishes. Designed to introduce a sense of warmth and softness, SOFT features a unique ultra-matte spray textile-originally developed by the U.S. military to protect metal surfaces from corrosion. This material diffuses light to create a warm, paper-like glow, reminiscent of traditional lanterns.
Structurally, SOFT’s framework is revealed when illuminated, forming a geometric sphere composed of interlocking wire circles. This subtle pattern echoes molecular and crystalline formations, reinforcing Dixon’s ongoing fascination with mathematical and natural structures.
PRESS FROSTED – A Softer Take on Industrial Glass
The existing lighting collection expands with PRESS FROSTED, a gentler, more atmospheric interpretation of the much-loved glass series. These are the thickest industrially pressed glass artefacts, designed and engineered to catch and refract light, now reimagined with a frosted finish that transforms clear glass into a translucent matte texture. The sandblasted effect provides a soft, diffused glow, enhancing its architectural presence. Available in Sphere Pendant, Mini Sphere Pendant, Large Surface, Mini Surface, and Table Light versions.
MELT – Celebrating 10 Years of Iconic Design
To mark the anniversary of one of Tom Dixon’s most recognisable lighting collections, MELT returns with a renewed emphasis on its signature molten effect. The latest additions to the collection include MELT Bronze, a sophisticated new finish that adds depth to its signature palette, and MELT Dichroic, an innovative new shade inspired by the mesmerising effects of dichroic filters.
Since the inception of MELT, Dixon has experimented with colour filters that transform its chrome finish. Inspired by the tinted lenses of sunglasses, one filter in particular stood out-a dichroic plating technique that deposits multiple colours onto the surface, creating an iridescent, ever-changing effect.
Additionally, the MELT Portable range expands with the introduction of MELT Portable in Fluoro and Bronze, bringing a bold pop of colour to the collection. With enduring demand for metallic finishes, MELT is also refreshed with a subtly decorated transparent colourway, balancing sophisticated tones with vibrant highlights.
