Promemoria is now transformed into an even deeper interpretation of the concept of sustainability with their new collection.

The creative world of Promemoria is and will always remain linked to wood, selected in its most beautiful and sought-after varieties. Inherently sustainable. But now there is a deeper thought, born from the awareness that nothing can be lost in such a special material. Thus, from the Promemoria wood library – an archive of wonders in which all the precious essences used over the years are kept – Romeo recovers parts of wood left in small quantities and otherwise no longer usable, and combines them with each other through the art of inlay that has always belonged to him, combining it with his peculiar ability to invent unparalleled motifs and color combinations.

This project has now become part of the catalogue and includes specially designed pairings and finishes, almost like the creation of a sartorial gown. This ability to produce a “perfect-fit” piece of furniture, one that seems like a second skin, is something that Romeo Sozzi has always strived for in his work with Promemoria and this is now transformed into an even deeper interpretation of the concept of sustainability. A piece of furniture that metaphorically cradles the user, responds to a need for physical and emotional comfort, and becomes a companion we cannot live without. A companion with whom we will form a lasting relationship, which will be passed down to others. This applies equally to a sofa, a chaise longue and a Komodo bed, or a Campanula table lamp.

It’s a word that has always come first in Romeo Sozzi’s dictionary, a leitmotif in his reflections on the future of Promemoria, a subtle yet unmistakeable undertone. In his furniture it finds expression in his stylistic choices, and in the subtle, elegant interplay of exquisite materials: a bronze handle; the inside of a drawer that has been upholstered using specially designed fabric; the beautiful brass tip that elevates a chair leg. It is an intellectual approach that at times is able to cross over into the realm of divertissement, perfectly encapsulating the dual spirit of Romeo Sozzi. In the new collection this can be seen particularly in the Babilonia chest of drawers, which is stupendously “dressed” from head to toe in silk velvet. This is furniture to be looked at, caressed, and used – with emotion.
